Top-handle saws are for trained climbers
These saws are legally and practically intended for operators trained in aerial work. Ground cutting with a top-handle saw removes the two-hand control a rear-handle design gives you.
Bar length is deliberately short
Most top-handle saws run 12–16" bars. Longer bars defeat the purpose — the balance that makes them controllable one-handed depends on keeping mass close to the powerhead.
