Three numbers decide whether a bar and chain fit
- Pitch.325" · 3/8" · 3/8" LP · .404"
- The chain's spacing: the distance between any three rivets, divided by two. It must match your saw's drive sprocket and the bar. 3/8" and 3/8" low-profile are different chains, and so are .325" and .325" mini.
- Gauge.043" · .050" · .058" · .063"
- The thickness of the chain's drive links. It must match the groove in the bar.

- How many drive links the chain has. The count depends on the bar's length and the chain's pitch and has to be exact. Each model's page shows it where Husqvarna's chart confirms it; otherwise count the links on your old chain, read the count stamped on your bar, or call (800) 322-4539.

What size bar and chain does my Husqvarna take?
It depends on the model. Pick your saw above: its page lists the pitch, gauge and bar lengths it runs, the bars and chains that fit, and the drive-link count where Husqvarna's chart confirms it. If you're replacing a worn set, the stamp near the tail of your current bar shows what is fitted now.
Can I put a longer or shorter bar on my Husqvarna?
Stay within the bar lengths listed for your model: the 225i Power Axe, for example, lists 12 to 14 inch bars. A listed range doesn't mean every bar of that length fits, so keep the same pitch and gauge, choose from the bars your model's page lists as fitting, and order the chain with the drive-link count for that bar. How do I find the pitch and gauge on my bar?
Look near the tail of the bar, by the mounting slot: Husqvarna stamps the length, pitch and gauge there. If the stamp has worn off, don't go by the saw model alone, because a replacement bar may differ from what the saw shipped with: call the Husqvarna desk at (800) 322-4539.
